Each appraisal requires a measured approach to ascertain the values of individual pieces to large accumulations over lifetimes. As an experienced appraiser, I am able to work with you to determine what type of appraisal is appropriate for your unique situation.

I have extensive experience performing appraisals from photos if necessary.

I am able to travel to your location –  whether you are in Portland, Vancouver and Ridgefield, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, West Linn, Bend, Eugene, Salem, Sisters, or areas around the Pacific Northwest including Olympia, Seattle, Bellingham, my hometown Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

I also provide clients with a wide array of services including assistance with downsizing, hosting of online and conventional estate sales,  consulting, valuation services, and sale placement to get the highest value for personal property, from household items to fine antiques and art objects.

For more information on appraisals and components of USPAP-compliant reports and the values and standards of trained appraisers of decorative and fine art, see the brochure below from The Appraisal Foundation:

Types of Appraisals

Insurance

Insurance valuations consider the cost to replace a treasured item or collection. Insurance valuations should be performed every five years. When was your last update?

Estate Tax / Equitable Division

Estate appraisals for taxation or equitable division of items between heirs provide guidance for your family’s decision making.

Donation

Appraisals for non-cash donations are required for items over $5000.00. As of 2018, the IRS requires only qualified appraisers with an advanced appraisal designation from a recognized organization like the ISA perform these types of appraisals.

Personal Interest

Valuations for personal interest are  calculated based upon the individual client’s needs – curiosity about what an item might sell for either on the auction market or if offered for private sale – is most common.
